Latest creation

Good morning Friends ~ Here is my latest little creation. It measures 3 1/4 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches high. It took 7 hours from start to finish. The other pieces I've done and shown here, with the exception of the bird, I did not keep track of my time, which is why I've not yet posted them for sale on Etsy, in our shop ArtistikUs ElastikUs. Beading takes more time than the actual embroidery, but to me the beads really add something to each piece and I love doing this needlework.

I've been collecting antique embroidery motifs some as early as 17th century for my needlework creations.

Thank you for stopping in to take a look at what is going on here in our little Plum Cottage.

SOLD :-)

Hello there ~ Well, yesterday I finished the little embroidered Eastern Bluebird. I sent a picture to the Lady who was interested in it, and she emailed back saying she loved it and wanted to own it. The overall size is about 5"x5".

Wowser ~ My first sale before I even open my little Etsy shop. Now I'm excited to start the next piece, even though I don't have a clue as to what it will be.

I've got to work on an inventory list in my computer and take photos of everything so that I can upload and post to my little shop for the grand opening.

Thanks again for all of your kind comments.

The start of next embroidered piece

Hi there Folks ~ When I saw a picture that SweetBay posted in her blog of a sweet little Eastern Bluebird, I asked her if I could use the photo as inspiration f
or a needlework piece, and she graciously gave her permission.

I finally started this afternoon. Already have almost 2 hours into the piece. I am using one strand of embroidery thread instead of two, for a finer look. I already used a black bead for his eye, and that brought him to life.

This piece is a tad intimidating, but I'm enjoying i
t now that I've started.

Latest bead/embroidery piece

Here is the last piece. I haven't done anything else in a couple of weeks, as that one tied my back up in knots, so I had to take a break. I love doing this, but it's tedious, and breaks are needed for body and mind. It's just while you are working on something like this, you think one more stitch, one more bead.

Thanks for looking.

Latest beaded embroidery piece

Here is my latest piece. I need to take pictures out in daylight for better color, but for now this will do. I've already started on the next piece. :-) The fabric is a very light weight pale lavender, not as dark as it looks in the photograph. I still have to initial and date the piece.

Thanks for looking.

Knitted Eyelet dish cloth

I got the directions for this dish cloth from Rhonda at Down-to-earth blog. It was easy and worked up smoothly. Although, I have to admit that tonight when I picked it up to finish it, I added another row in the pattern which changed the look, but I left it as is. I love the color of this 100% cotton yarn.

Next beaded piece

Good morning Folks ~ Hope you all are having a good week so far.

Here is my latest beaded/embroidery piece. I think I will be framing some of these pieces, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I just love doing these. As if you can't tell. :-) Click on pictures for a larger view.

First beaded embroidery piece for 2010

Hi there folks. Hope you are keeping warm.

Here is my latest piece and I am looking forward to the next one. :-)Some of the beads are so tiny, and the dang beading needle is awful to thread, but I love it. Each piece takes hours and I get a back ache, so I have to pace myself. (Easier said than done.) You just want to do one more stitch, add one more bead, and more time slips by.

Here is my workspace while working on this piece. I cleaned it up last night so that it will be ready when I start the next one.
